Just like that, the first weeks in Seoul have passed by. Seoul really surprised me in the best way possible. Below is a small selection of photos I took over the past few weeks.
Unexpected side of Seoul
As a K-pop and K-drama fan I was already familiar with Seoul’s trendy, entertainment-driven image. But the city is so much more than the Hallyu wave it’s most known for. While you are in the city center, you are surrounded by tall corporate buildings, massive billboards showcasing the latest fashion (or coffee ;)) campaigns and large department stores filled with designer brands.
But between these modern buildings, there are places within the city where you can find the cultural aspects of South-Korea that make Seoul so fun and interesting. Think of beautifully preserved traditional hanoks, shrines and palaces where both Koreans and visitors alike walk around in traditional hanboks, keeping centuries-old tradition and cultural heritage alive. And for those like me who love K-pop, even that modern side of Korean culture is impossible to miss.
The first few weeks were all about adjusting to the city, its pace, and the language barrier. I shared that time with my dad for a few days, and later with one of my best friends. Now, right after Christmas, it’s time to experience it all on my own as a solo traveler. I won’t lie, it makes me nervous, but in the best way possible. I’ve been dreaming about this for years, and finally experiencing it for myself, makes me really excited and ready for what’s ahead!
Follow me on my adventures ♥
From now on I’ll be sharing my journey through my blog and my social media. I was already very active on Instagram, but I’m still on the fence if I want to start making video’s for YouTube. Especially since I already share a lot on my Instagram Stories. We’ll see what I end up doing.
See you next time!
